Dear all I work for a New company seeking to export live fish ( tiger grouper) from Malaysia to Hong Kong. Currently managed to find a retailer who can only accept small quantity ( 200-300)kg. by air.
The cost of air freight alone (~1 tonne fish + water) would cost me >HK$10000 (> 1/3 of my total takings) . Is this the normal way to bring in live fish to Hong Kong? Is there any place / company that can give a lower rate for the air freight?

It is more common in Malaysia to export live fish via Live Fish Transport ship... does anyone know how i can arrange for a pick up of fish from Malaysia to HongKong? Who to pass the shipment to for auction/ sale ???

We have capacity of 200 cages which in future can yield > 8 tonnes of fish per month... need to get in contact with an importer who can accept such large shipment.

Thank you all in advance for your help

Replying to [Ryeder]:

For live stocks, airfreight is probably the only solution as it takes 3.5 days by sea freight plus 2-3days for clearance.
You may want to shop around for the lowest freight cost.
Alternatively, if possible, you may want to reduce the water in your packing.
Or sell at FOB terms, your buyer will bare the freight cost for Singapore to HongKong.
