1/ It pains me to elevate someone above my hero but Andrew Johns truly is the best player i've seen play. The regularity in which he'd single handedly win a game (at all levels) was outrageous.
2/ Mal Meninga, obviously doesn't quite have the skill of a half but more than made up for it in heart, inspiration etc. For years was unstoppable at all levels. Greatest captain of all time!
3/ Darren Lockyer, a champion at rep level in 2 different positions is very impressive. An amazing record including a handful of premierships and of course the current Origin streak.
4/ Bradley Clyde, just an awesome all round player, had the defensive abilities of Hindmarsh in combination with the attacking ability of Watmough. Brilliant at all levels, highly underrated.
5/ This is tough, my shortlist would include: Cameron Smith, Laurie Daley, Brad Fittler, Ricky Stuart, Alan Langer, Jonathon Thurston, Brett Mullins, Steve Walters, Benji Marshall, Billy Slater, Glenn Lazarus, Shane Webcke, Stacey Jones, Paul Harragon, Steve Renouf, Ken Nagas. Extremely tough to choose from this list.........but i'll stick with the first name mentioned Cameron Smith - soooooooooo underrated due to whom he plays with, but I believe its he that elevates the people around him not vice versa, an amazing career (sadly marred by salary rort) but still good enough for me. But any of this list would be acceptable.
Hmmmmm I bet I forgot someone.
I'd have Wally at 3rd but his career was in his twilight at the start of your '20 years' margin.
