Whats the best fish to get for babies? Besides Guppies.
I love sunburst platies and i had 2 but they never had any babies. (yes, male and female.)
I recently found 3 fry from my black molly, unexpectedly. (Ollie, Mollie, and Dollie)
I set up my 10 gallon yesterday afternoon, because i was having issues with it. I got a new filter, cleaned everything, and even syphoned out 50% of the water. I was going to wait about a week or 2 for new fish but i MIGHT be getting some tomorrow.
What fish can i rely on to have a big batch of fry? :)

Guppies, platies, swordtails and mollies are about the easiest fish to breed, as they're all livebearers. The gestation period is about twenty eight days, give or take a few, depending on the fish.

You shouldn't be keeping pairs. If you want your fish to breed, get three females and one male at least, otherwise aggression may occur, and it will result in either the death of your fish or no fry. Mollies are brackish fish, usually the other livebearers such as guppies, platies and swordtails prefer water with a little less salt.

A 10g tank is a bit too small to be breeding those fish, especially mollies. A group of four to five mollies requires a tank of at least 30g. I'd recommend nothing less than 15g for a group of four to five of the other swordtails, but you may be able to pull it off by keeping four guppies (three females, one male) in your 10g tank, just remember to change 25-30% of the water weekly.
