I know I’m going to die. It is something I have known for a long time. But it is not something I will regret. I know it will be a good thing. It will put an end to the perilous journey I once thought was my life.

"I refuse to read a story if the opening line is..."?
Asked By Aly,Last Answer By payal02 At 2021.02,2 Answers

Finish the sentence, please. What I mean is this: on both Y!A and while reading books out of the library, there are certain key phrases that will make me stop reading a story instantly. Do you have any phrases like that? If so, examples please. If not, explain why.

My examples:
- If the opening line is, "I always knew I was different."
- If the opening line is, "The weather was cloudy that day, with a chance of rain."

Basically, give examples of sentences that would make you put a book back on its shelf.

What do you make of this true story? (everyone read)?
Asked By inteleyes,Last Answer By Tomb Raider At 2010.09,1 Answers

I work in a hospital so I get to hear some true stories...

There was this woman who was very ill, she didn't believe in God, or spirits. Her doctor said to her that she only had one or two days left to live. The woman was surprise that she would go that fast. She said that she had some visions recently of some white spirits that came to visit her, not much details, basically spirit, they were very comforting and she said that she felt like she wanted to go with them.

I have experienced these white spirits, that were comforting, and they too didn't have much detail, because they are from a higher dimension, their vibrational speed is fast. They came to me to comfort and encourage, because I was giving up.

What do you think, she never believed in God or spirits, yet she is about to die and they come to her, with comforting love to guide her home~

What do the skeptics want to say about this?

This is for a website. My grandpa is having investors put money up for an oil well project. This is part of the 'sales pitch' so to speak...just an intro to our project, but we have a long way to go with making it sound great. Here it is so far, please feel free to straighten up, mix and match, add any info at all:

This well is located in one of the most prolific producing areas of the world. Wells have been producing heavily in this area since the 1920's. As more and more companies and investors have continued to drill in these oil field, this location has become the heart of one of those most prolific oil and gas producing areas of the USA. Neighboring oil fields belong to major oil companies such as Chevron and Texaco.

There is nothing better than a good location. It might be said that a great oil well is like a great piece of real estate. The three best attributes of real estate, as with an oil well, are Location, Location, Location.

The location for this marked well has been controlled by our company since 1992 when the price of oil was only $8.00 per barrel. It would be impossible to obtain a good oil lease in this area today. [Basically what we need to say is because we've continuously had it leased since back then, we're locked in, and if we did not have control over it since back then, getting access to drill on this property would almost not even be possible because it is so desirable).

Hey all. I’m a 22-year old guy. I’m gay, and I’ve known I’m since I was very young. I never had any attraction towards females, and I’m closeted. So far nothing new or different. What’s different is the culture I live in. I live in the Middle East, where basically, gays & lesbians are considered mentally sick by the vast majority of people, and in need for medical and religious intervention. I’ve been born and raised in a religious, Islamic family. They have provided me with love, money, education and much of what parents give their children. But unfortunately, as everybody around, they have the same view about homosexuality. So are my friends, and so is everyone I know, even the media. It’s very hard for me to keep hiding who I’m, and what adds insult to the injury is that I’m considered the “White sheep” of my family. I’ve been always the smartest in school, the most “moral” and religious. Even I didn’t accept the fact that being gay is OK, and used to think it’s against God, and that I’ll go to hell because of it. It took me over 5 years to finally accept myself, as I only understood what being gay meant very late, when I was about 15 . And only until last year that I accepted that I cannot change who I am, and that I’m normal. But As I said, it’s practically impossible for me to tell my family about who I really am. The least they would do is send me to a psychiatrist or make me get married sooner than I’m expected (Yeah I’m expected to marry a girl and have kids...Etc). To give you one incident that explains what I mean:
There was this once when my little brother suspected I watch gay things on my computer because he found links in it. He told me that he’ll never speak to me again, and then he told my mum that when he gets married, he doesn’t want me showing up. But of course, no one believed him, and I managed to convince him that I’m not gay or anything.

I thought of moving away, but I’m helpless. I still don’t have my degree (Medicine, takes sometime), and I never held a job or earned my own money, besides I need a visa to get to many European or North American countries. And believe me, I sometimes cry over myself. I never had the chance even to fall in love with a guy, or hug him romantically or anything, on top of my closet status. I sometimes feel like dying from the inside. I’m even afraid to write down what I feel in a diary in fear that someone could find and see it. It’s so depressing. No one to come out to and expecting them to say “That’s OK”.
I just wanted to share this with people who are like me, or at least see me as normal. I’m not expecting you to magically find solutions for me…Just opening up to you guys & girls.

Please ! Must READ This Story.?

----------------------------------------…
I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw a Cashier hand this little boy some money back.

The boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old.

The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll.'

Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ''Granny,

are you sure I don't have enough money?''

The old lady replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.''

Then she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look a round. She left quickly.

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.

Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to.

'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas.

She was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.'

I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it to her after all, and not to worry.

But he replied to me sadly. 'No, Santa Claus can't bring it to her where she is now.

I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.'

His eyes were so sad while saying this. 'My Sister has gone to be with God.

Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too,

so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.''

My heart nearly stopped.

The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet.

I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.'

Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing.

He then told me 'I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won't forget me.'

'I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.'

Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check

again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?''

'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it.

There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!'

Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough

money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!''

'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much.

But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.''

'My mommy loves white roses.'

A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket..

I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started.

I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind.

Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young

woman and a little girl.

The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical

state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the

life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma.

Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.

I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home

where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.

I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever... The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine.

And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

Why do so many Filipinos think opening a business will make them rich?
Asked By flipperr,Last Answer By Jaimee H. At 2011.03,1 Answers

I've met lots of Balikbayans who go to the Philippines with dreams of starting a business. They take their hard earned foreign currencies and try to start a business in the Philippines. Yet most of them have their money swindled from them or they start businesses that fail.

It seems as though a lot of people in the Philippines think that opening a business seems to equate to becoming rich. Personally I find this view to be quite delusional. All these people say things like if you start "any sort of business" then you will make lots of money....Am I missing something here????? Haven't these people ever heard of a feasability report or considered doing research before venturing into something like this?

I mean if it were that easy to start a business and make money, why would anyone become an OFW? If you could be rich starting a business in the Philippines nobody would leave the country to work overseas. Besides the prospects for making money isn't that great as opposed to a 1st world nation.

Anyways, just curious to get some opinions here.

The huge oak door creaks open slowly and there stands the most beautiful man I have ever seen, the man that graces every one of my dreams. The man I would sell my soul for.
He flashes a mouth full of perfect white teeth. His aviator lenses glint in the harsh sunlight. He holds out a sparkly gloved hand. THE sparkly gloved hand.
"Hi, I'm Michael. I've been expecting you" Such a simple sentence. But one that makes my heart beat uncontrollably.
I curse myself for hesitating to grab his hand. Maybe it is the huge snake, tenderly known as Muscles, coiled around his body. Or maybe it’s the fact that my palms are getting increasingly sweatier by the second.
Deep breaths. Take deep breaths I tell myself.
"Hello. Michael. I'm Lauren."
The next thing I remember is waking up on a comfy red couch. Mannequins of all shapes and sizes are hovering over me. I immediately sit up and inspect my surroundings. Oh my God, could this be reality? Am I really inside of his house? And if this is a dream, please don’t wake me up!
A shadow appears over me and I look up. That same beautiful angelic smile is staring back at me.
"Oh! Michael, I'm so so sorry. I don’t know what happened. I’m..."
His laugh interjects my blubbering. It is the single most beautiful laugh I have ever heard. I can’t help myself; a huge smile spreads across my face.
"It’s ok. Really. Don't worry about it. I'm kind of used to it," He says playfully. "Wanna go see the Ranch?"
"Of course!” I respond a little too quickly and a little too loudly. He giggles, but stoically composes himself. He takes my hand, and we start towards the door.
Minutes later we are racing go-carts around the winding track, taking no prisoners. Funny, I never expected my idol to be so competitive! He swerves in front of my cart. He screams, so innocent and child-like, and speeds away. I laugh to myself and press my pedal to the floor in an attempt to catch up with him. I don’t want him to be out of my sight. After about 20 minutes of racing, I see his cart come to a stop on the side. I pull over next to him. A slim but toned arm hangs out of the window. His fingers curl, beckoning me to come closer. I was out of my cart in 2 seconds flat. I made my way over to his window, as unsteady as a drunk. Ha, this man IS pretty intoxicating I think to myself. Leaning into the window I smell a sweet woodsy odor. He even smells amazing!? Oh Lord, please do not let me faint again.
“What do you want?” I question sarcastically, pushing him ever so lightly.
He flashes that heart melting smile and steps out of the cart. Before I know it my Roxy flip flops are lifted off of the go-cart track. He is carrying me, heaven only knows where. But I’m not complaining. His breathing is pretty even but I am so worried that I am too heavy for him. He’s muscular, but still so thin! After about 30 seconds of worrying I decide to close my eyes and savor the moment. I feel his heartbeat and it is the best feeling I have ever experienced. Michael then flops me onto the grass beside a giant Ferris wheel. I lie on my back and smile up at him. He kneels over my prostrate body holding my arms hostage above my head. My heart must be about to beat out of my chest! I know that he can hear it!
“Don’t move a muscle,” he whispers.
“Your wish is my command,” I manage to say.

... To be continued.
