Virginia High School Baseball Rules?
Asked By smilemore4me,Last Answer By Bob At 2011.04,1 Answers

During a JV baseball game the Away team was at bat. They went through there 9 batters and were suppose to start back at the top. But they brought in a 10th batter. He didn't play the field of course just batted in the 10th spot. I have never heard of this rule in High School Baseball, and have searched the VHSL.org but couldn't find anything about a lineup like this. Please include any evidence if this is possible or not.

Why has GWS degraded into a junior high school lunch room?
Asked By Lyanthya,Last Answer By La Belle Dame Sans Merci At 2010.10,1 Answers

Really, it's getting ridiculous. Completely baseless accusations of Nazism and paedophilia, shallow, gratuitous personal insults, and ludicrous speculations on members' personal lives.

This morning I logged in to find the following email from a member with whom I've never even spoken:

"Subject: changed your avatar

Message: Thank God you changed that thing, I was so tired of looking at your cockeye."

Considering the source, it's hardly a blow to my ego, but really, how have we reached this level of schoolyard hair-pulling? Can we pull ourselves out of this infantile behaviour? Have civil debates? Maybe even act like adults, even when we disagree?

I'd really like to think that we could. I'd like to believe that we could use GWS as a medium to communicate our beliefs, our hopes, and our fears. Perhaps even sometimes reach a common understanding.

After the interactions I've seen and experienced lately, however, I really just don't see it happening.

What are your thoughts?

Senior citizens, what was your high school prom like, and what is your fondest memory of that night?
Asked By Skylark,Last Answer By Lynn At 2010.10,1 Answers

Tonight is my senior prom, and as a member of the planning committee, I’ve devoted a lot of time the past few months to researching the current trends and themes, but it would be lovely to learn more about how previous generations celebrated the milestone event.

~ When was your prom, and what were the popular traditions at that time?
~ Where was it held?
~ What did everyone wear?
~ Did you have a Pre-Prom dinner and After-Prom celebrations, or was the prom the singular event of the evening?
~ Did your school use the prom as an opportunity to promote and support a cause you believed in? For example, the motivation for our theme and décor is “green peace,” and we have endeavored to be environmentally responsible, and to use the event as a way to give back to the community. 20% of the ticket sales are being donated to locally-based humanitarian organizations; all leftover art supplies and set decorations will be given to an inner-city children’s center; the unused extra trays of food will be delivered immediately after the prom to local food banks; and tomorrow afternoon we’re delivering all the floral arrangements to various nursing homes in the city. If you are interested in reading more about our efforts or gathering resources for an event you may be planning, please click here: http://skylarkmelody.xanga.com/
~ Do you remember the theme of your prom? In keeping with our theme of “green peace,” ours is “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and we are decorating the ballroom to look like the Emerald City.
~ What music was played? Did you have a DJ or a live band?
~ Was there a Prom Court with a Prom Queen and King crowned at the event?
~ Was the prom in any way shaped by the political and economic climate and world events at that time? For example, due to the economic crisis, many schools this year have scaled back on the extravagance of the event and brainstormed ways to be thrifty.

And most importantly, what are the fondest memories of your prom, and what advice would you give to us so that when we look back on this night we will remember it as a joyous moment in our lives?

Oh, and if any of my adult contacts happen to be reading this, feel free to answer the question even if you are not yet a senior citizen.

Apologies for the length of the question; my curiosity went into overdrive. And thanks in advance for your answers. : )
